Downhill goes crazy at My Mountain

With the store's recent foray into the more gravity-orientated side of mountain biking, we've had an influx of customers looking for shiny new parts for their freeride and downhill bikes, with the My Mountain workshop filling up all sorts of big squishy toys.

Courtesy of Trek and Commencal, the testosterone levels in the shop have sky rocketed with the introduction of some "real" mountain bikes such as the Trek Remedy and the Commencal Supreme DH bikes. We've also stocked up on loads of downhill parts like tyres, stems and pedals to make sure we have what you need before your next race, while the workshop is ready for anything from bleeding your brakes and replacing the worn out pads to facing your frame and installing a fresh bottom bracket.
pb090015The beauty about bringing on board a new style of mountain biking to the shop is the chance to meet new riders and customers who previously haven't checked us out, with riders bringing in their beloved rigs to receive some "Toggsy Love" and a couple of upgrades here and there. As proof of the recent rush of downhill products coming through the store, just this week we have sent out 3 sets of Fox 40's to some budding downhill racers looking for the ultimate upgrade.

One customer in particular walked out of the store earlier this week with a brand new set of Fox 40's and the highly-sought after Fox RC4 rear shock on his downhill bike, turning it into an almost completely different bike.Replacing the existing single crown fork and base-level rear shock, he now has some of the best suspension money can buy, and the ear-to-ear grin on his face said it all really!

With the independent high and low speed compression adjustment on these forks and shocks, there is an almost unbelieveable amount of tuning that can be had to make sure that your bike gets from the top of the run to the finish line as smoothly and quickly as possible.Alternatively, if you don't have a downhill bike, you could always buy a set of Fox 40's as your next air guitar...

Not to be outdone, RockShox are providing some killer forks and shocks for the freeride crowd, with one particular customer bringing in his 6" All Mountain bike to have a new set of Lyrik's fitted. These coil-sprung forks feature a travel-adjuster that allows you to set the fork anywhere from 115mm of travel all the way to 160mm, giving the rider much more versatility for a wider range of riding conditions. Set the fork down low for the climbs, open it out to full travel for the descents or set it halfway for nipping through tight singletrack.

Also of note, the 2010 RockShox BoXXer range is now available in Australia, with the Race and Team models joining the World Cup fork. Check out our Online Store for killer pricing and colour availability, as these forks won't last for long with the hype that they've been generating on the magazine-review rounds.
If you're one of the poor suckers without a downhill bike and you're looking to get into a bit of the gravity riding, My Mountain currently has access to Commencal demo bikes, allowing you to take away a bike and ride it on your trails and in your conditions. Soon to join the MM demo bike stable will be two Trek Session DH bikes, as we will be the only store in Victoria with these 2010 bikes and the only store in Australia with them available to demo ride. There has been a lot of hype surrounding Trek's DH range, particularly with the introduction of the revised suspension design that is featured on the Fuel EX and Remedy bikes.

So as you can see, the crew here at MMHQ are pulling out the stops to make My Mountain the destination store for all your mountain biking needs, uphill or downhill. Come check out the new range at our Brunswick store, or give us a call if there's a new product you want to get for your two-wheeled beast.
