Cyclo-X is not a big part of Australian cycling despite it being huge in areas of the US and Europe. Traditionally Cyclo-X is held in very wet, cold and slippery conditions which may have be part of the reason for its obscurity here. But you would have been fooled yesterday if you made it down to the Brunswick Velodrome where the first of a three series Cyclo-X race was held.
There were two categories of race to enter, Cyclo-X bikes, or open ( ride whatever you have). The open category probably offered more laughs for the spectators as every manor of bike was there from Mat Grey on a Fixie with no brakes to a BMX and everything in between.
One of the many obsticals riders must navigate during the race.
