2011 Trek Remedy 8 - The only one in Oz??

The 2011 Trek Remedy range is shaping up to be a big hit ('scuse the pun) for the coming season in Australia, with falling prices and improved specs all round making them better value than ever before.
After coming back from Trek World 2010, we received a call from Trek asking us if we would like to get our hands on the only Remedy 8 in Australia, which had been on show up in Canberra. Aside from being very humbled, we must admit that we got a little bit excited to know that we had the only one in Australia, with the rest of the stock landing in November.

With 150mm of Fox Suspension front & rear, the Remedy is the big brother to the Fuel EX, for those riding in more technical terrain that still want a bike they can pedal around on all day. Like the EX, the Remedy uses the DRCV rear shock that provides a bottomless feel to the rear suspension due to the dual air chamber, whilst both the Fox fork and Fox rear shock feature a custom tune that is developed between Trek's suspension designers and Fox Racing Shox.

The Fox Talas fork up front features 2 different travel settings depending on the trail situation. At full extension, you get 150mm of lightweight air-sprung travel that uses the QR15 bolt-thru axle that is stiffer and more responsive than the old quick release designs. With a flick of a lever, you can drop the fork down to 120mm of travel, which is perfect for climbing and tight singletrack when you need more weight on the front wheel. For a 6" travel All Mountain bike like the Remedy, this is essential in providing the kind of versatility that the rest of the bike can offer.

Like much of the 2011 Trek range, the Remedy 8 gets a slick 10-speed Shimano drivetrain, that anyone who came to the Trek demo day 2 weeks ago will attest to, is incredibly smooth and usable on the trail. Combined with the travel-adjustable fork, the DRCV rear shock, tapered head tube and ABP suspension, the Remedy 8 is stunning value at $3999.
