Trek Session 88 in Trek World Racing colours!

The creme of the crop on the World Cup DH circuit (in our totally un-biased opionion), the Trek Session 88, has been one of the success stories of the 2011 season.
Along with their strong presence on the race circuit, combined with reduced prices across the board and improved frame and suspension technology, the the Trek Session line is quickly becoming the in-demand bike to have.

Although we've had a number of customers getting on board the Session 88, some may not be aware that this killer bike is available as a frame only, and in the special edition Trek World Racing colours no less.
As with any of the top-of-the-line DH framesets on the market, the Session looks the business and we were expecting a pretty top-of-the-line pricetag like you would see on a Santa Cruz V10 or an Intense M9, due to the impressive frame technology and custom-tuned RC4 rear shock.

Well, we were in for a surprise!
The Trek Session 88 frameset is available from My Mountain for just $2899.95
And before you call us liars, that price includes the Fox RC4, Cane Creek Frustrum headset and 12mm axle.

The 2011 Session 88 frameset is slightly revised with a more aero downtube that is actually stronger than last years frame with better resistance to denting from flying rocks. You may also see in the photo the rubber/polycarbonate dowbtube protector that covers the underside of the downtube near the bottom bracket, providing you with just a little extra peace of mind.

Shared across the entire Trek dual suspenion range, the Active Braking Pivot (ABP) suspension design is even more beneficial on the Session, with its 203mm of rear wheel travel being completely unaffected by braking, allowing for maximum traction whether you're on the anchors or not. The beefy 12mm thru-axle combined with the cocentric ABP pivot makes for one of the most laterally stiff rear linkage designs available, which is a welcome change from the other flexy, mini-link DH bikes on the market.

Keeping up the technology theme, the Session 88 features a massive E2 tapered headtube, with a 1.5" lower headset cup. The Cane Creek headset is included and is setup to fit dual crown 1 1/8" forks, though if you want to fit a tapered Fox 180 fork or a RockShox Totem, you can do that too. The main reason Trek use the E2 head tube is to baulk up front end stiffness and strength and provide a bigger surface area for the downtube where it meets the head tube.
If you look closely, you'll also see the integrated downtube bumper that prevents a dual crown fork from denting the frame. Nice.
