For 2011, the Schwalbe MTB tyre range has a new Tubeless Ready (TL) version available that allows you to run them on a tubeless compatible rim without a tube.
You get the awesome, toothy grip of the Nic tread pattern, with the Triple Nano Rubber Compound, EVO casing in a sub-700gm package AND it can be run tubeless!
Unlike a full UST tyre, the TL tyres are much lighter due to the omission of the airtight casing, as they are designed to be used with latex sealant inside, such as Stans No Tubes. This keeps them sealed and also doubles as additional puncture protection.
The Nobby Nic is one of our favourite tyres @ My Mountain, as it provides outstanding levels of grip for a wide variety of conditions and yet is faster than many other brands XC racing tyres. The Nic is ideal for loose conditions, be it dry or wet, though the rubber is soft enough that it stays composed on hardpack too. Sure you could find something cheaper, but for the genuine Schwalbe rubber and high quality EVO casing, look no further.
