The Santa Cruz bomb drops @ My Mountain!

Well it's official; Santa Cruz Bicycles have landed at My Mountain!

Some of you may have had your suspicions on the last social ride with the Secret Singletrack Society, where a couple of sneaky demo bikes were being ridden by MM staff members. As with a lot of our core product, we're determined to try out and actually ride the bikes and components that we sell in store so that we can provide better advice and more accurate technical information for our customers. Before taking Santa Cruz on board, we wanted to ensure that we could provide not just competitive pricing in a global market but also a quality product that we would want to ride ourselves - and the Santa Cruz range definitely ticks those boxes with authority.

Santa Cruz have a long history as a mountain bike brand, with innovative suspension designs, class-leading geometry and heavy investment into the racing scene that has kept them relevant and in demand all around the globe. You're probably familiar with the really popular bikes like the Heckler, Blur and the Nomad, and you've probably listened to your loud mouth mate who just can't stop raving about them. Just by looking at a frame up close or their range online, you can really tell that these guys clearly build the bikes that they want to ride.

With a massive range of build kits and fork options available with each model, the ability to create your very own Santa Cruz mountain bike for your needs and budget couldn't be easier; choose between Shimano or SRAM gearing, RockShox or Fox Suspension and XC or All Mountain wheelsets.
With the wide range of available models and pricepoints from Santa Cruz, we reckon that the brand will fit in nicely with our existing range of Treks, Pivots and Commencals.

We have received our first batch of frames, including the Santa Cruz Nomad Carbon pictured above. A beautifully crafted carbon fiber frame, the Nomad C is a premium level 160mm travel All Mountain bike that boasts incredible strength, efficient VPP suspension and clever features like the ISCG05 tabs for mounting a chainguide and the big 1.5" headtube that will accept tapered, 1 1/8" and 1.5" steerer forks.

Attention to detail on these machines is incredible, with everything down to the derailleur hanger having been researched, designed, engineered, tested and re-designed for ultimate functionality. The pivots on the suspension are a good example of this perfectionist approach, with oversized aluminum pivot axles rolling on sealed Angular Contact bearings that are held together with clever locking collet heads for easy maintenance.

The Santa Cruz Superlight is a classic amongst their dual suspension range, with it's clean lines and bomber single pivot suspension often out-performing the lastest suspension fads that hit the market each year. Lightweight, stunning value and with proper mountain bike geometry that doesn't make you feel like you're on a rodeo bull, the Superlight is proof that the answer is often much more simple than you think.

After getting the chance to try out a demo Blur LT, we knew it was a frame that we needed to have in the shop. With 140mm travel via the Virtual Pivot Point suspension design, the LT is the Long Travel version of the Blur platform, which makes it ideal for technical trail riding. We were blown away at how efficient the LT was to climb, given how much fun this beast was on the descents and through rolling terrain, and a lot of this can be attributed to the clever VPP suspension that is designed to minimize pedal input on the rear shock.

In the coming weeks we will have access to a number of different demo bikes in the Santa Cruz range, including the Blur XC carbon, V10 Carbon DH bike and the brand new Tallboy 29er. If you're interested in checking out the quality in the flesh, or you want to get a demo ride on your potential dream bike, pop down to MMHQ in Brunswick East to probe us with questions.
