There is a one-off bike at My Mountain that I thought needed bit of a spot light on put on it. This little gem has been hiding in amongst our line up of great full suspension bikes, but because it isn't on our website no one really knows it's here, so for the most part it has gone unnoticed. Even some of the staff are a little guilty of forgetting about it. The bike in question is a 2011 Santa Cruz superlight that is built up with a complete 2010 Shimano XT group. So the reason I wanted to highlight this bike is because:
1- The frame...Santa Cruz Superlight, 2 The build... Full XT, 3 The price... $3,000
Santa Cruz Superlight
Together with the Heckler, Juliana and Bullit, the Superlight rounds out the Santa Cruz single pivot range, based on the original dual suspension models the brand built its foundations on. The Superlight is designed as an XC trail bike that is light and snappy enough to be raced on, though comfortable and durable enough for clocking up serious trail mileage. The lightweight Aluminum frame from Santa Cruz Bikes produces 100mm (4”) of rear travel via the Fox Float RP23 rear shock, allowing riders to setup the suspension for their weight and riding style, and is suited for suspension forks between 100-120mm travel, with the latter being more suitable for trail riding and the former better suited to XC racing. With all the sophisticated tubing manipulation combined the simple mono-pivot layout, the engineers at Santa Cruz Bicycles have managed to whittle the Superlights total mass down to just 2500 grams with shock.
